Nov 28 – Ride Recap

28th November 2009 by brtoone

Awesome ride today folks. We experimented with a new 65 mile route today heading all the way out Kelly Creek to Cook Springs and back in the usual way with the climb up Vandiver. Great turnout with at least 75 riders making it out to the ride. The only hiccup was an uncooperative country store and a cracked frame. Jacob Tubbs road on ahead after the nature break to get pictures of the group as we passed by. Check ’em out!

Thought todays ride was great…jacob, thought you did a great job with the pacemaking. Im going to try to bring a video camera and get some footage of next weeks ride. I posted a recap on my website and Im trying to get some feeback so check it out and leave your comments in the guestbook under visitors guestbook. Even if you have nothing to say i need some people to post some things just to see if it is working right. Cant wait till next week!

Fully agree that Sat BBL was a success!! A couple of points to always follow:

    – Two abreast always when possible!
    – Single file up and over Vandiver climbs!
    – When riding on the front be sure to maintain a consistent effort not speed.
Your speed will abviously change when ascenting vs decending so be sure to pedal down hill!

Thanks to everyone for coming out hopefully everyone is having as good a time as i am. PLease feel free to let us know how to make it better.

Great ride yesterday. I loved the route, the beautiful country and rolling hills kept it interesting. Thank you organizers for making the BBL my favorite ride of the week.

Ive posted a blog on my website predicting the outcome of next weeks attack zone. I would love to here everyones picks too…we could make fantasy BBL. Im guessing the zone is camp wini?

oh yeah and just figured out that if you click on my name in red that it goes directly to my site…thats pretty sweet.

Actually there are going to be THREE attack zones as follows (check main page for additional details soon):

AZ #1 – WOMEN, Cat 5, and Non-categorized riders only! – TNT Fireworks (Hwy 78 on the way out of town)
AZ #2 – Everybody using the new handicapped system – Sterrett AZ
AZ #3 – Everybody using the new handicapped system – Irondale City Limits sign (Hwy 78 on the way back in)

We’ll be bypassing Camp Winnie again this week in favor of the new Cook Springs route we used last week. The only difference though will be that we are ALSO bypassing Kelly Creek Rd in order to cut some distance out to even out the extra distance for the Sterrett Attack Zone. The total ride length should be just under 100k (61.1 miles)
